Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things

I'm reading Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things and it's a very good book. One thing that it talks about is why some people feel the need to keep everything. One theory is that a traumatic event causes a shift in thinking. One hoarder (a person who keeps everything) said that she kept things because things always "loved" her and that people betrayed her. And that got me thinking....

Those people who feel that way obviously aren't Catholic. Otherwise, they would know that, while people may turn against them, God is always there for us. So is Mary. So are the saints. So are our guardians angels. They will never betray us.
