Hey girlies! Everyone loves nail polish, right? Here's a little giveaway: She's giving away 3 sets of nail polish, so you're bound to win! Good luck girlies!

Spring's modest trends: Skirts!

I know during the Spring and Summer it is extremely hard to look modest and wear skirts. Trust me, I find myself constantly wearing shorts (modest shorts, natch). But, thanks to our usually not so modest but fabulous runway designers, now we can look in style while wearing modest skirts. Mini skirts begone! Maxi and midi skirts are takin' over!

Trend 1: Midi Skirts. Skirts that hit the knee or a little lower are called midi skirts. For shorter girls or teens, it is a little harder to pull off. Here are some fabulous ideas of midi skirts for this Spring and Summer.

Maxi Skirts: Maxi skirts are super-long skirts that are a huge trend for Spring and Summer. Uber modest and cute, here are some ideas.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Since Audrey said she could not do A&As every week, I thought we could take turns. Again this idea is from The Daybook. Here's mine:

Laughing randomly with my best friend in public. No, we aren't crazy!!! Okay, maybe a little.

Getting lower than an 80 in bowling. Bumper bowling.

Having to wear guy shoes(not just bowling) because my feet are too huge.

Saying something I think is hilarious and no one laughs. Okay...

Making these cookies. I added M&Ms, too.

Eating those cookies.

Food samples. 'Nuff said.

The fact that people have guardian angels. How cool is that?!?!

Long reports. Call me a nerd, but I love them.

How to make a short skirt or dress modest

Hey there super fabulous Simply Catholic readers. (you're even more fabulous if you follow Simply Catholic. Just kidding.) Have you ever come upon the PERFECT dress or skirt, but it's too short. Well, all of us have. I have that problem when I go shopping at Forever21, or basically any clothing store. Even though I stole, well, actually borrowed, this idea from Elaine at Clothed Much, here's a simple tip on how to make that skirt or dress modest: Put another skirt underneath it. It might sound weird at first, but try it. What you need to do it take a fuller skirt (see bottom of post) and put it under your skirt or dress and it'll make it longer in no time! Right now I'm wearing an olive military-styled dress, but it was too short, so I just put a longer tan skirt from Old Navy underneath it. It looks fabulous, IMHO.

Also, quick note, I am addinh ShopStyle widgets to the end of my fashion or beauty posts, so please, check them out. The more clicks on an item we get, the more money we get. The more money we get, the more money we can give to charity. Yep, that's right, we're going to donate it to a charity. Info coming later!

You Won't Believe Justin Bieber Said This

Raise your hand if you like Justin Bieber! My hand is not raised. While I dislike Justin Bieber in general, I applaud him for his pro-life comments. Read the article about it here.

Modest Skirts

Here are some modest skirts all under $50!!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Hello girls! I decided to start doing Sydney's fabulous Awkward and Awesome Thursday. I might not be able to do this every week 'cause I'm not sure if I really have enough "awkwards and awesomes" in my life. I don't really go anywhere and I'm homeschooled, so awkwards don't really exist in my life...haha, just kidding. Well, here ya go!

Having a piece of silverware in one hand and a napkin in the other, then throwing out the

silverware, and putting the napkin in the sink.

Going to shadow at my local high school (which I am going to next year!) and having the Principal come over and clear off your tray at lunch, for no reason except to let you know that you haven't been eating off of it for 5 minutes and you should have taken it back 5 minutes ago....that was more awkward on her part.

Going laser tagging (which was awesome) and coming 2 places ahead of my crush that I've liked for 2 years. Then telling my friend that I came 2 places ahead of my crush, and since she's dying to know who it is, she screams "Who came in 13th, who came in 13th?" Yeah, it was really awkward, especially because my crush heard.....

Having pizza, then talking to some really cute boys. AFTER that, you realize that you have parsley and tomato sauce stuck in your teeth.

Going paging at my state senate today, so you'll be reading this while I'm being all important with my state senate pass around my neck and those electronic keys that are so fun to slide.

Getting a brown and turquoise necklace and earrings that are super duper cute from my mom. It wasn't supposed to be a Valentine's day present, but because of a missing earring and my dad having to exchange it, I did get it on Valentine's day.

My brother Vince's 3rd birthday this past Tuesday. He's getting so old, but also so cute...when he's not throwing temper tantrums.

Warm weather. Seriously, I can get used to 45 or 50 in February.

Being on Quarter 3 Week 7 of school....only 11 more weeks and it's summer vacation for me!

It almost being the weekend....although I never get to sleep in, I still love 'em!

Hope you lovelies enjoyed this! I also wanted to remind you of a giveaway over at Delicately Fierce that ends tomorrow. You girlies really need to enter, it's essential for Spring!

Saint of the Day: February 15

Hello all! The saint of the day is St. Agape. She was a follower of St. Valentine and a martyr. She belonged to a group of virgins that St. Valentine founded, and was martyred under the rule of Diocletion. She was martyred with her two sisters, Irene and Chione, and is listed as one of the early martyrs.

St. Valentine Prayer

Happy St. Valentine's Day! The following is a prayer that is attributed to St. Valentine:

Dear Lord, who art high in the Heavens,
Giver of Love and Passion,
And He who strings the heart’s cords,
Lead the Lovers this day, February ten plus four.

The day during the month of two,
When the date is the perfect number of God
Greater two souls and two hearts.

Some Loves are fleeting ,
But that which is built on you will never fail.
So guide the Lovers to know what is to be.

Your truths the Lovers’ mouths should speak,
For Your truth is that which is honest to the heart.

Only this, then, should pass over the red lips of the Lovers.

Your art, the Lovers simply a medium.

It is only with True Hearts that You can create a Masterpiece,
So let the Lovers remember that their Soul’s Desire
Is the one for which You light their Fire.

And let it be You who creates the Art of the Lovers;
The art of two into one.

Two good Articles from Yahoo

First, I know most celebrities are pretty bad news. However, this articles shown that, in between partying and scandalous activities, they do have a good side. Here's an article about good deeds some celebrities participated in around Christmas time.

Secondly, this article about little girls who grow way too fast is really sad, but I believe that this stuff is important to know because if you don't know what's evil, you won't be able to avoid it.

Thank You

Hi readers!

We just passed the 2,000 pageviews marker and stats have been excellent for a small blog. Thank you so much!!!

Also, there are some sweet new features coming this month that I will announce soon.

So, in the blog world, everyone is doing Positive February started by Melissa
and the goal is to write three things you love about yourself. To Catholic it up, I'll add three things I love about the Faith.

1. I'm naturally an intelligent person. School is never something I've had trouble with and I'm so thankful.
2. I was raised Catholic. The best gift on earth give to me as a baby? Sweet!
3. I can stand up for myself and others. I have no problem giving people a piece of my mind- politely- usually :).

Being Catholic

1. The Eucharist. Doesn't get much better than that.
2. Mary. Marian devotions have always meant a lot to me.
3. Coffee and Donuts. To eat is the 11th Commandment. :D

What do you love about yourself and the Church? Tell us in the comments!!

My favorite Catholic blogs

Since this is a Catholic blog, I decided to promote some of my favorite Catholic blogs, or blogs run by Catholic people. I hope you enjoy all of these!

Maria's Lilies-Ok, I'm not just promoting this because I write for it. I'm promoting it because the other ladies who write for this blog write pretty awesome stuff.

Catholic Cuisine-Seriously, these ladies have talent. For every feast day or celebration in the Church, they have a special dish to make. I'm so inspired now!

The Joy of Fashion-Super sweet Marie can show every single girl that dressing modestly doesn't mean you have to dress dumpily. She masters looking cute and modest at the same time, and she can give you some killer inspiration on how to dress modestly during the summer.

Hang tight!

Hey gals! The girls at SC and I are going to be doing some changes to Simply Catholic, so we're asking you to hang on for a little while. Thank you all so much!
