Joy of Fashion interview

I recently had the joy to interview Marie from The Joy of Fashion. The Joy of Fashion is an excellent style blog written by a Catholic.

Me:How does your Catholic faith affect the way you dress?
Marie: My Catholic faith makes me want to dress conservative and appropriate to each situation. I always feel uncomfortable wearing really short skirts/dresses or very revealing tops, so I try to stay away from those.

You seem to be a very positive person. How do you maintain such a happy attitude?
There is so many things to be happy about, why shouldn't one be happy everyday? God has given us the gift of life, just waking up every morning should be a good reason for celebration. I manage to stay happy everyday by always remembering the many blessings in my life. I'm especially thankful for having a wonderful family, boyfriend, and friends.

Any advice for new bloggers?
Always stay true to yourself and don't compare yourself to others. It's so easy to feel discouraged as a new blogger because there are so many other bloggers that have more visitors, comments, etc. Don't let that keep you down! Persevere and keep doing your thing!
Audrey:Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
Marie:Most of my sense of style was first acquired by watching my mother. She has always been an inspiration for me. Apart from her, I also get lots of inspiration from other fellow bloggers. Some of my favorites right now are Kendi Everyday (http://kendieveryday.blogspot.com/) and What I Wore (http://whatiwore.tumblr.com/)
Audrey:What's your favorite recipe/thing to bake?
Marie:Coincidently, I have been trying tons of new recipes lately, so that's a toughy! I think the best home baked thing I have tasted is either the Almond Bars my mom makes for Christmas or the Duncan Hines Decadent Triple Chocolate cake my mom made recently... Yum! But the best thing I have baked myself I think would be some Banana, Coconut, and Pineapple cupcakes I just made recently... they were delicious!

Thanks, Marie! Be sure to visit The Joy of Fashion!

I really like High Matinence

How many times have you seen 9 live?

Her song Headphones reminds me a lot of how I don't really fit in very much, and I do feel better when I listen to music.

Is there a song by 8 that makes you sad?

Not really

What is your fave song of 1's? I like Naturally or A Year Without Rain.

How did you become a fan of 10?

A little update

Hello everyone! This week I'm on my Spring Break, so I've been mostly relaxing. My mom and I probably are going shoppping later today, so I'm pretty excited, as I haven't gone on a big shopping trip in a while. I've been completely spoiled with the beautiful weather we're having in the midwest, but unfortunately I grew out of almost all of my summer clothes. That's the other reason we're going shopping.

I've been obsessed with this skirt (actually wearing right now):

Teen Girls' Skirts by American Eagle at ShopStyle

Earlier last month, my family and I went on a little shopping trip in a HUGE mall. I didn't get to shop much, but I found that beauty in American Eagle. It's not as short as shown in the picture, and you don't have to wear it high-waisted. Even though I wear a medium there, I got a large to make it longer, and it still fits, because of the elastic waist. The colors and print are beautiful, and the shape is extremely flattering. You can wear it tucked in or out, and it looks good any way you wear it. It's a little expensive, so I'd wait until it goes on sale or you have a coupon. It's a really great buy.

Also, on a side note, please pray for my friend who was in a car crash. Someone ran a stop sign at an intersection she was at, and hit her. It completely wrecked her car that she just got (it was older, but turquoise, her favorite color) and she had to go to the hospital. Nothing's broken or damaged, but she's in a lot of pain. So please, please, please pray for her! Thanks so much girlies

Disclaimer: I am not being paid for reviewing or promoting this skirt.

Modesty Do's and Don'ts Part 1

Modesty can be confusing because there are no clear cut rules. I combined ideas of my own with tips women in my life have given me to share with you.

Do realize that modesty isn't a set of rules; it's all about how you present yourself.

Don't wear anything that you have to constantly tug or pull on or that feels too "iffy".

Do make your face stand out. Smile!

Don't wear super skinny jeans. If you want to wear skinnies, try buying a size up or going straight leg instead.

Do invest in camisoles that cover four finger widths (held together, not spread) from your collarbone.

Don't be afraid of tights. They really pull together an outfit and make skirts more modest.

Do remember that clothing is meant to "clothe" not to show off your body.

Don't feel like you are alone in dressing modestly; there are lots of other girls who want to dress decently, too!

Reminder: Our naming contest ends this Thursday. Please enter!

Vintage Girl

Awkward and Awesome Thursday and I'M BACK!!

This is Anna, posting from Tricia's account because I'm not registered back here yet, and she posts from the SC email, so I know the password. Here I go:

Awkward

The word awkward. It's so wierd.

Starting to say something, then realizing someone in the room might be offended, so I'll go, " Well, um, it's ...kinda.... LET'S TALK ABOUT PUPPIES INSTEAD."

Waiting for packages in the mail. So excruciating.

Dances. THERE IS NOTHING MORE AWKWARD ON THIS PLANET THAN A DANCE. PERIOD.

Discussing a book in homeschool group and thinking that someone's uncle was really his wife(in the book). You should have heard the laughter. I have never blushed more in my life.

Awesome

Being back here. I missed you guys and I'm sorry I left. when, I wrote that posted I was stressed out with blogging. I think I'll be okay.

All my blog friends, especially Audrey and Kayleigh. Thanks for being there for me!

Redecorating my room from stuff I already have. It looks amazing and I didn't spend a penny.

"High Maintenance" by Miranda Cosgrove ft. Rivers Cuomo (from Weezer). I don't usually like her, but I really like Rivers Cuomo, so it sounded good.

Finishing school early most days this week. Yeah!

Announcement-PLEASE READ

I, Anna will no longer be posting at Simply Catholic, at least for the time being. Blogging has become something I really hate, and I would rather share my Catholic faith in a different way. I am also worried about internet safety. Thanks everyone and good luck with this blog. Bye.
